.... LacquerDreams Halloween Challenge - Halloween Mani ...

It's already Halloween here in Australia and while we don't really celebrate it in my household I still did my nails all pretty and stuff.  I didn't completely finish the LacquerDreams month but I had fun on the days that I attempted.

I've gone for spiders and this was inspired by a mani I saw on pinterest but there was no credit [why pinterest why!!]   Google images was zero help so if you know who originally did this please let me know so I can credit properly!

The tips are Essie Meet Me At Sunset and the spider is made from Rimmel 60 seconds - Black Out and Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear -White On and topped with Essence Gel Look topcoat.

... Pretty Serious - Something Strange ...

I figured this was appropriate for the spooky season! Not a challenge today just something I've done myself.

If there's something strange in your neighbourhood?? Who you gonna call??  Really you should call the fantastic folks at Pretty Serious and get yourself a bottle of this beauty.

OK ... so I really wanted an excuse to do THIS! Mega mega glitter bomb in one coat!! WHY DIDN'T WE THINK OF THIS BEFORE!!

I've layered Something Strange over OPI Alpine Snow GelColor which I've been really trying to give a good workout too and the black is piCture pOlish black.

Yes the nail decal is crooked *sad face* so I need to work on my placement of decals.

I know many of you won't get this joke if you haven't seen the movie but it never fails to make me laugh!
Do ... Re ... Egon!

Before I go, I'll leave you with this! Surely I'm not the only one who played this game back in the day ... and could never finish it >:(

... LacquerDreams Halloween Challenge 2013 - Witch Nails ...

So ... recreate someone else's challenge from the LD Halloween Challenge today. And how could I go past THIS post by Break Rules Not Nails. Alright ... I just wanted an excuse to make my hands green as it looked cool!! Happy! ;)

Now I don't have Old Gold Buffy anymore but I thought Face of Australia Iron Ore from the Molten Metallics collection would be a good substitute and I don't have NfuOh 59 but I do have NfuOh 49 which has red, orange and green flakie goodness! Mmmmm flakies. All tipped with Femme Fatale Scorchling.

Obviously I'm sadly missing better green makeup for that super spooky look but I made do and I'm quite happy with the results.

And I'm gonna add that I love this glowing pumpkin that I'm holding here. It changes colours every few seconds so you seem to get a slightly different look every shot. LOVE!!!

... Aussie Nail Monday - Free Choice ...

Free Choice Aussie Nail Monday today! I thought this would be a great idea but then I sat forever trying to work out actually what to do?

In the end I've gone for a simple splatter mani that I think works quite well with the Halloween theme of this month!
The red splatter is NYC Color Fire Hydrant over OPI Alpine White in GelColor. As always, I recommend the tiny straws from kids fruit boxes/juice boxes for these! They seem to work 10000% better than anything else.

I'd forgotten how much fun these are to make. Nothing like making a pretty mess in the name of art! I'll definitely be splattering again in the near future!

... Fave Horror Monster - LacquerDreams Halloween Challenge ...

Quick one tonight from me!! Todays Challenge is Fave Halloween Monster. Now I'm not a big horror fan but I do like Frankenstein. Well Frankensteins Monster!

So here is my super simple take on it. I've used Illamasqua Nurture and the Lilic's A03 stamping plate.

I thought it worked well but those zigzags are a bit of a pain to place correctly. Oh well. Try, try, try again! Hurrah!    I'll add the inlinkz when it appears so you can check out all the other funky monsters!

... Love Thy Polish - Swamp Monster ...

I recently travelled way up north to Roxby to visit Emma from Love Thy Polish and be a part of the super wrapping production line!! Never will I personally complain about sorting and wrapping 30 polishes for a group buy again! I don't know how the indie girls do it!!
Pic by me on Instagram - Check me out if you don't already follow!

One of the pretties I walked away with\from my adventure to LTP was Swamp Monster which is a limited edition for Halloween. It's a glitter top coat full of beautiful neon green and black. I wasn't sure how I wanted to wear this but I'm currently giving OPI Alpine Snow GelColor a test run and I wondered what it would look over white. Add some dodgy nail art and it looks pretty good!

The Mike face is made with OPI Did It On 'Em, Ulta3 Lily White, piCture pOlish Black and Zoya Yummy. I was pretty impressed to be honest as my nails are still super nubby. I only have small nail beds and it's a real good challenge to get in there and paint!

The only downside was the bubbles that decided to appear as part of the top coat *sighs* Oh well. Lesson learnt.

Anyway! Swamp Monster! Get it!!! If you are international and want one, just drop Em an email and I'm sure she can point you in the right direction!!

... Wave of Polish ... In memory of Charlotte and Bailey xxxx

Something special today and close to my heart.  Loss of a child is something that we don't talk about much as a society even though so many of us have been touched by a life who was taken from the world too soon.

October is International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. Throughout the month we ask that you paint your nails blue and pink. October 15th is Pregnancy and Infant Loss awareness day. Around the world on the 15th October at 7pm people are asked to light a candle. Then throughout the time zones a wave of light is made in memory of the precious lives taken too soon. Let's also make October 15th a wave of polished hands showing support throughout the world

1 in 4 pregnancies will end in loss, leaving behind devastated families. Please show your support and help raise awareness"

Today my nails are in memory of my two beautiful nieces Charlotte and Bailey Anne who sadly passed away shortly after entering the word.

Two Sisters, Two Butterflies. Flying together forever.

The polishes I used are Face of Australia Boys 'n' Berries, Zoya Barbie, Bourjois 06 Rose Cupcake and piCture pOlish Black.

There is currently an international auction for polishes over at Wave of Polish with all money raised going towards the work of Sands Australia who are there to support grieving parents in their time of need. There is also a donation link on the Sands page if you would like to contribute funds towards

If you want to see the wave of polish look at the instagram tag #pregnancyandinfantloss or #waveofpolish or just check out all the links below.

... Aussie Nails Monday - Halloween Decor ...

Woohoo! 2 posts in a month! That's a record ;) I hope there is cake to celebrate :D

Today is Aussie Nail Monday and todays theme is "Halloween Decor". Now, currently I'm travelling and supplies are extremely limited. I have a handful of polishes to choose from that I found stuffed in the dark dark corners of my handbag and if anything, this has really challenged my creativity.

I decided to just go for spiderwebs. I'm not sold by these but I'm glad I gave it ago.

I chose OPI A Woman's Prague-ative as the base and it's a gorgeous orangy bronze which I think is a beautiful Halloween colour and my spiderwebs are in OPI DS Radiance and Ulta3 Black Satin

So, as I mentioned I'm travelling and that means I don't have a whole heap of nail art tools at my disposal. This was made using a toothpick and some of those dental flossers. You know, these things!

I thought by painting the dental floss in polish I'd be able to get some beautiful straight lines happening. Yeah. It didn't really go to plan. The silver in particular is way too thick and considering the size of my super nubs it doesn't seem to work.

Ambitious but rubbish!!

... Zombies - Lacquer Dreams Halloween Challenge ...

So hi loyal readers who keep sticking around!!

Finally I've finished studying and therefore I'm trying to get back into a blogging groove over October (even though my poor nails are suffering!!) as there are so many halloween challenges to partake in. Halloween is not big in my part of Australia but seems to be growing slightly each year. I must admit, along with Christmas it's one of my fave times of year to browse the blogasphere as so many creative geniuses appear.

Todays I'm joining in the Lacquer Dreams Halloween Challenge and the theme for today is Zombies. I'll admit this isn't my best work but I'm away from home and had to make do with only a handful of polishes and a dotting tool.

The polishes I've used are Zoya Dove for majority of the fingers and the green is a combo of Ulta3 Jelly and Butter London Yummy Mummy since I didn't have a dirty green on me.

For more Zombies check out the links below or check out the hashtag on Instagram #halloweenchallenge2013
